The Veles e Vents – modern icon of Valencia’s sports marina and now also a famous backdrop during the European Formula One Grand Prix – played host to the Fiesta Viña Ardanza 2001 Reserva Especial on 24 May.
Over 500 invited guests came together in honour of the Viña Ardanza 2001 Reserva Especial, a very special vintage that has helped to cement the reputation of its producers, Rioja Alta. Though long established as Spain’s most famous winegrowing region, the Rioja faces increasingly stiff competition from new wine producing areas both locally and abroad.
However, wines of this quality maintain the standing and proud tradition of Rioja – a fact that leading hoteliers, restaurateurs and Valencia’s high society attested to as they came in large numbers to better acquaint themselves with one of the finest Spanish vintages in years.
Rioja Alta used the occasion to thank the Valencianos for their continued patronage and the enthusiasm and appreciation they bestow upon its wines. The wine tasting was elaborated upon by oenologist Julio Sáenz, who explained the vintage’s finer characteristics, as an exclusive gathering of Valencia society turned the night into a prominent occasion on the social calendar.
