
World’s Most Expensive Painting
The New York Times recently reported that Christie’s advised on the sale of a portrait by early- 20th-Century Austrian artist Gustave Klimt.
The newspaper called the portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer, painted in 1907 and purchased for $135 million, the world’s most expensive painting. The family sold this portrait to Ronald Lauder, the son of Estee Lauder of cosmetics renown.
Blue Period Picasso To Lead Sale

The magnificent Blue Period portrait of Angel Fernández de Soto, painted by Pablo Picasso in 1903, will be offered at Christie’s New York auction of Impressionist and Modern Art on November 8. The painting is estimated at $40–60 million. The portrait is being offered by The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation and is being sold to benefit a variety of charitable purposes.
