British purchasers of international property are becoming more demanding and discerning, a situation that becomes even more apparent when one specialises in unique luxury properties. These days savvy investors are eager to be among the first to invest in a promising new region.
This was the rationale behind Zoe Dare Hall’s recent article in The Daily Mail. As the U.K.’s second most popular daily newspaper (only The Sun sells more copies), The Daily Mail formed an excellent showcase for some of the most desirable properties in Northern Spain.
Singing the praises of the Costa Verde, Dare Hall wrote glowingly of the region’s beautiful coast, temperate climate and accessibility. However, she informed readers that it was worth undertaking an hour’s journey south to reach the Rioja area, known to most British readers as the origin of some of Spain’s finest wine.
The focus of her Rioja reference was La Casona de las Amas, a breathtaking 17th century castle, complete with 16 bedrooms, currently being run as a boutique hotel by the youngest generation of the family that originally built it all those centuries ago. The article draws attention to the 1,000 bottles of wine that the new owner will be granted every year from the estate’s own vineyards.
Although it would make the ideal small hotel for an imaginative couple, La Casona de las Amas could also be a magnificent family home – albeit for a large family! Set within opulently green gardens, the property also contains a private spa with thermal baths, Jacuzzi and tidal swimming pool.
With journalists like Zoe Dare Hall predicting a dramatic rise in interest in Northern Spain (an area that she likens to Devon), we will surely soon be charting a corresponding rise in interest in Rimontgó’s properties in the Costa Verde.
