Gala evenings are traditionally starry, celebrity studded events, but none so much as the launch of Montblanc’s extraordinary ‘Collection Princesse Grace de Monaco’.
Under the patronage of Princess Grace’s son, HSH Prince Albert of Monaco, the unveiling of Montblanc’s latest range of jewellery, watches and pens was transformed by a cavalcade of international celebrities who all gathered at Monte Carlo’s famous Opera Garnier to pay tribute to someone who was not only the monarch of this principality, but a Hollywood film legend.

When news emerged that Ridley Scott was in pre-production mode prior to shooting a new movie, all fans of the sci-fi/horror genre were thrilled, since they had already guessed that what the taciturn director had in mind was an addition to the Alien saga. Scott’s forthcoming project, Prometheus, will actually be a prequel to his groundbreaking film and – in a press release that will delight residents of the Costa Blanca – will be primarily shot in Alicante’s City of Lights studio. Scott has booked the water tank at the studio until December, so whatever surprises the screenplay (wriiten by Lost writer, Damon Lindelof) contains, it’s certain that the cast, headed by Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Wilson and Guy Pearce, will need to pack their water-wings!

The organisers of this year’s San Sebastian International Film Festival are preparing to welcome veteran Hollywood actress, Glenn Close, who is to receive the festival’s prized Premio Donostia. The award ceremony will take place at 21:30hrs on Sunday 18th September in the Kursaal Auditorium and Close will join a long list of illustrious names to receive this honour: Woody Allen, Meryl Streep, Robert de Niro, Francis Ford Coppola, Lauren Bacall, Gregory Peck and Bette Davis are just a few Hollywood names to receive the Premio Donostia.

The British Prime Minister, David Cameron, has selected Spain as his holiday destination on more than one occasion this year. His first trip was back in April, when he celebrated his wife Samantha’s 40th birthday in the beautiful historic city of Granada, where the couple enjoyed the Moorish architecture and white-washed walls. Whilst there, they visited the Alhambra palace, built as a seat for the Moorish leaders that ruled the country in the 14th century (although it was built earlier than this.)
