Rafael Hernani – a passion to improve

Hernani interiorsAs a designer and project leader of interior reformation jobs, Rafael Hernani’s passion lies not only in creating leading designs and stunning décors, but also in improving the whole of the property in the process.

Begoña Buqué, a question of taste

Queen of fashionFor many women – and a growing number of men – fashion is so much more than just clothing. It amounts to more than simply choosing the right outfit. As with many of the things we desire and aspire to, fashion – like fast cars and dream homes – is all about making us feel good.

But there’s a difference: clothes maketh the man, or rather, the woman, for few things affect the way the world sees us and the way we feel about ourselves as what we wear and how we wear it. To look great in a stylish new outfit is to feel comfortable, trendy, attractive and confident. Antonio Escario, a Valencia tradition in architecture

Tesoreria Seguridad Social Seville by Antonio EscarioAntonio Escario qualified at one of the most exciting periods in architectural history. Many may associate the 1960s with the functional engineering driven styles of the post-war era, but this was also a period of great optimism and experimentation, most aptly expressed in the Modernist style.

“It was a great time to emerge on the scene,” says Escario. “There was so much creativity and energy in my profession at the time, which I guess stemmed from a great belief in the future and what technology could do to enhance our lives.” These days we are perhaps a little more sceptical, weighing up both the benefits and disadvantages of progress, but it cannot be denied that even now we keep coming back to an era that produced many of the design classics that hold true to this day.”

Alfredo Argilés, an eye for detail

Gourmet diningAs the leading gastronomy writer and food critic in the region, Alfredo Argilés proves once again that the pen is a formidable weapon. His carefully weighed opinions are read by thousands of discerning diners, making him a man both revered and feared by restaurant owners and chefs whose success rests on the strength of their reputation.

“It’s not quite as bad as all that,” insists the affable expert. “I only give harsh reviews to those who really set themselves up to be measured among the very best – and fall short.” Others are measured not against the highest yardsticks but judged within their own segment, ensuring that the verdict is always proportionate to the establishment he critiques. “If the truth be known, I’d rather not write about someone than have to say something harsh.”

City chic

Luxury ApartmentMost of us would be hard-put to define the ideal lifestyle. For some, it is the peace and space of the country, for others the convenience and excitement of life in a trendy city. Very often, however, such answers are to a large part dependent on the lifestyle of the person in question. Those who are no longer bound by the requirements of a career may opt for life in village, while young professionals will put a premium on being close to work and all manner of amenities.Continue reading…City chic

Valencia ace torn between city and country

No, this is not one of those cases where a football star has to choose between club and country. In the case of Valencia star David Albelda the tug of war takes place in his heart, the protagonists: the city of Valencia and La Pobla Llarga, the village where he was born and bred.

David Albelda
A Valenciano in heart and soul, Albelda’s first language is not Castellano (Spanish) but the local Valenciano tongue. The player who, but for a short spell on loan to local rivals Villareal, has been a stalwart defending midfielder for Valencia, is a favourite of the passionate fans of Valencia CF.Continue reading…Valencia ace torn between city and country
