Seat cars are all well and fine, but once upon a time Spain had its own equivalent of the Rolls Royce or Bugatti. This fine car, widely regarded as one of the best in production, was the Hispano Suiza. From its workshops in Barcelona, this make made elegant limousines and open-topped touring cars of great luxury and exquisite finishing, whilst also producing some of the world’s earliest sports cars.

From 8-18 March the Association of Restaurateurs of Jávea will celebrate the third «Xàbia al Plat». This gastronomic enterprise unites the contributions of fourteen local restaurants that will offer special menus with six original dishes and an exquisite selection of regional wines for the ten days.
Restaurants Bonamb, Calima, Casa Ángel, Castelló, La Cocina, Embruix, Estapatí, Mezquida, Parador de Jávea, Los Remos La Nao, El Rodat, Sur, La Trastienda and El Trencall have all agreed to include these menus in their own at a set price of 30 euros. Bearing in mind the current fragile economic situation, these establishments will also promote the sampling of their gastronomic creations at a more attractive price than usual. In this way they hope to acquire a new customer base that will be able to enjoy a special treat without having to break the bank.

Jávea’s Town Council, in collaboration with CIRNE Cultural Foundation, is to initiate a campaign aimed at protecting some of the area’s most important trees, whether either ancient or unique to the area.
The main aim of this project is to conduct a full inventory of all of the area’s centuries old and native trees. This process has been viewed as an excellent vehicle through which to educate local school children about the importance of the environment and the heritage provided by some of these extraordinary trees.

Circuits like those of Jerez, Barcelona and Valencia feature particularly prominently, enticing the elite of motor racing away from the drawing board and factory workshops and on to the track.
It is here that new theories and designs are tested, and the teams’ responses to a whole new set of technical rules and specifications are put through their paces. The racing teams that commit their precious new creations – on which they have been working feverishly through the winter – to the open track, will soon get an indication of just how well they have done in preparing their cars for combat.
