Designed by a leading architect in close collaboration with his knowledgeable client, this stunning villa backs on to a hillside overlooking a green valley in the exclusive residential area of La Sella, on the Spanish coast Near Valencia. Fine materials compliment modern design and a prime setting amid protected Mediterranean pine groves and maquis. “I have been coming to this area for 20 years and always had the dream of finding the right piece of land to build a dream home,” says the owner, a great lover of the arts and architecture. “When I found this land, which backs on to the lower reaches of a protected nature reserve, I knew the time had come to realise my plans.”

The plot was a particular find, offering a perfect location in which to set a luxurious villa in which commanding views, state-of-the-art design and privacy come together in one. Positioned at the upper end of a select, private residential area that follows the curves of the La Sella golf course, the home is in fact somewhat of a one-off. “Such a home demands extra attention to detail, both aesthetic and practical, but central in our minds was the marriage between bringing the views in and creating a modern villa that respects the local vernacular.”

The result is a property that overlooks without being overlooked, featuring a harmony of styling, scale, form and indeed function that can only be achieved when both architect and owner are dedicated to creating something special. “I’m grateful to our architect, not just for creating such a wonderfully elegant and comfortable modern home, but also for listening to his client’s wishes and allowing us to create a modern gem from which to overlook the world.”
