In an exciting new collaboration Armor Tech and Maybach recently announced the ArmorTech Maybach 57S Coupe.
Officially launched this year, the new car is the product of the coming together of Armor Tech, a Russian company specialising in the armouring and bullet proofing of luxury and performance cars, and Maybach, the luxury limousine division of Mercedes Benz.
Since Mercedes revived the legendary Maybach name some years ago today’s reincarnations of the super deluxe limousines of the 1920s and 1930s have entirely lived up to their exalted status. Suddenly, the likes of Rolls Royce and Lincoln had very serious competition, and indeed, a long list of VIPs, from heads of state and royalty to Madonna, put their names down for one. Moreover, Maybach cars more often than not are made to measure, featuring specs and styling details made entirely to the wishes of the client.

In reviving a grand name of the past and a bespoke form of manufacture, Maybach has placed itself at the very pinnacle of modern car making, combining fine craftsmanship with famous German engineering in what has become a highly successful mix. It is not surprising, then, that Armor Tech have chosen the W120 platform of the Maybach 57S as one of their latest luxury offerings. In recent years this specialist company has built a name for itself too, becoming one of the international leaders in the field of armour plating and bullet-proofing luxury cars and limousines.
This involves making cars safe without them becoming overly heavy, cumbersome, sluggish or indeed dangerous on the road. For Armor Tech, the skill lies in producing specially adapted cars that offer diplomats, politicians and businesspeople total security whilst maintaining the speed, agility and comfort of the original vehicle. This is an amazing feat of engineering in itself, and one that requires a total overhaul of the roof, pillars and other structural sections of the car. Tyres are self-inflating, and the engines are re-tooled and souped up to ensure the same level of performance as in the original model – or better.
In the case of the ArmorTech Maybach 57S Coupe this amounts to 6-litre, V12 engine that produces 630hp and a top speed of 275km/hr. Exterior styling has been adapted somewhat to create a luxury fast limousine with two doors and sweeping coupé roofline. In other words, a car that offers limousine luxury combined with grand tourer comfort and sports car performance. Priced at €650.000, only 100 of these highly exclusive models will be built, and as you might expect, with the interior options the sky is the limit.
