Rimontgó brings top international investors to Valencia

Luxury Real Estate Symposium Valencia 2013Driving Growth in Valencia Symposium

From 28th to 31st January Inmobiliaria Rimontgó played host to members of international network Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate as the organisation’s 7th Annual International Symposium was held at the Westin Valencia hotel.

Beyond real estate

Specialists and renowned names from the top segment of the global property sector came from Europe, Australia and across the USA to attend the symposium, yet this was always intended as more than just a real estate conference.

In bringing together these professionals with experts from the fields of commerce, economics and education, as well as local government organisations, the organisers created a broad, multidisciplinary platform for discussion and the exchange of ideas.

“People in real estate and other sectors can and need to learn from one another, more than ever in these times, so we created an event where information and ideas could be exchanged at the highest level, with the intention to learn and get inspiration from Companies who are leaders,” said José Ribes Bas, CEO of Rimontgó.

Steps to growth

In focusing on Valencia as a regional market and looking at Spain as a case study, the symposium analysed the current situation and the steps required to lead us back to growth.

“Spain is at a crossroads, not only in having gone from boom to recession but also in that we have reached the end of a quantitative growth phase focused primarily on domestic drivers such as construction and large-scale infrastructural development. The new phase will require qualitative, export-orientated drivers such as technology, luxury products and high-value services.”

“This is the next opportunity. To make the most of it Spain will have to streamline its institutions and business legislation, invest in high-level vocational education, develop linguistic and also export skills, and above all encourage the growth of entrepreneurial spirit. It is great to see that this process has already begun to gather momentum.”

Speakers

Porcelanosa, La Rioja Alta, Rimontgo, David MorTo help us identify both challenges and opportunities, as well as the steps to renewed growth, there were speakers of the highest standard, including laureate Professor Santiago Grisolía of FVEA, renowned economist and EU advisor Ramón Tamames and Vicente Haba of the Valencia Tourism & Convention Bureau.

José Vicente Roca, CEO of Porcelanosa, and Guillermo de Aranzabal Agudo of La Rioja Alta offered the public attending this Conference with in depth speeches. The message prevailing was that of values and vision to choose the right path to bring their Companies to the leading positions they hold in and outside Spain.

Their speeches, on Tuesday, were preceded by a groundbreaking video presentation by Grant Thornton on Spanish economy. On the Wednesday session, Brian Cole Director of Berklee College of Music Campus in Valencia and Amparo Gil, principal of International School Caxton College highlighted the importance of producing a creative, multilingual labour force that has been educated in entrepreneurial abilities since their earlier stages of schooling to providing them with the confidence and ability to succeed in an increasingly global business environment.

The real estate sessions, in the afternoons, focused on identifying new growth markets and developing the tools that promote quality of service and a competitive edge in this global market. A special speaker was Public Notary Antonio Jiménez Clar, who highlighted the essentially clear and straightforward nature of Spanish property conveyance and the legal security that gives to holders of property rights. Peter Loveday, Director of Currencies Direct presented the audience his Company services proposing savings on exchange rates and speediness in international currency transfers.

Showcasing Valencia

José Vicente Roca, CEO Porcelanosa, José Ribes Bas, RimontgóThough the symposium was held at the Westin Valencia hotel, delegates were given ample opportunity to appreciate the beauty, charm and dynamic ambience of the city of Valencia through organised visits to its central market, historic and most modern quarters, restaurants, and also the new state-of-the-art facilities of Cessna’s European Headquarters at Valencia Airport.

The impressive Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences formed a suitable backdrop for the symposium’s gala dinner – and an inspiring symbol for an event that has reinforced our belief in the dynamism and potential of this part of the world.
