Valencia, World’s Capital City for Motor with the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe

The Spanish city of Valencia will become the World’s Capital City for motor racing between next August 22nd and 24th, 2008. An audience of more than 500 million people around the World will follow every detail of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe, for the first time taking place at the Valencia Street Circuit and which will cover the whole Marina Juan Carlos I, venue for the 32nd Edition of the America’s Cup, the most important sailing championship in the World.
This highlight in the Formula 1 schedule program will combine the grandeur and emotion of this exciting sport with such a unique backdrop as the Port of Valencia on a 21st century urban circuit with a distance of 5,400 metres, where racing drivers will reach a top speed of up to 323.3 km/hour.
Valencia is once again successful in the Sports World after achieving an excellent reputation for the organisation of grand events. Since the 32nd Edition of the America’s Cup many other events have been held, such as the Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix and the Superbike World Championship in Cheste or the IAFF World Indoor Athletics Championship; making the capital of the Turia River become symbol of elite sport.
An international benchmark
Set on the Mediterranean coastline, the city of Valencia has set itself up in the last few years as one of the most fashionable metropolis in Europe. Thanks to excellent connections by air, land and sea, the capital city of the Region of Valencia has become one of the greatest economic centres on the Mediterranean coast and one of the main touristic destinations for the most demanding travellers.

Few cities in the World combine with such harmony two thousand years of history with the most avant-garde architecture. This cultural wealth ranges from the Lonja de la Seda –‘Silk Exchange Centre’–, considered by the UNESCO as World Heritage Site since1996 and one of the greatest exponents of the European civil Gothic art, to the impressive and modern Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias –‘City of Arts and Sciences’–, Architect Santiago Calatrava’s masterpiece. This incredible town-planning development works as a magnet for many international investors who see in Valencia a new outstanding European metropolis.
Valencia’s entertainment offer is completed with a stunning coastline where one can enjoy some of the best Mediterranean beaches. Some kilometres southwards the well-known coastline of Costa Blanca extends along 200 km. of the province of Alicante. Towns like Jávea, Calpe, Altea, Benidorm and Denia have become major tourist destinations thanks to a perfect weather, their complete holiday infrastructure, lovely landscape and views and an attractive wide offer in gastronomy, town festivals, sports and culture.
Excellent future prospects.
