During next month in May, Jávea will become the trendy Valencian town thanks to its celebration of two folk and rock music festivals.

The first of these, Xàbia Folk, will take place in the Riurau d’Arnauda on the 6th, 7th and 8th of May and will feature performances by Kepa Junkera accompanied by Sorginak, Germans Caballers i Amics and Els Naán. The veteran Kepa Junkera, a Grammy award winner, will pass through Costa Blanca to celebrate his career spanning 35 years. An event where the Basque artist will be accompanied by his inseparable trikitixa, a small accordion, originating from Italy, that since the 19th century started to become popular in the Basque country and which Junkera is an accomplished master of. The Xábia Folk will feature a launch party on the 22nd of April, in Costa Blanca’s Cultural Centre, with performances by Javier Bergia and Begoña Olavide.

The music will turn towards rock on the 21st and 22nd of May, with the celebration of the fourth edition of Montgó Rock in the La Fontana area of Jávea, less than 300 metres away from the sea. The confirmed artists of this edition are united in a poster that ranges from the most commercial music to indie, topped by a true rock music legend like Loquillo. Amongst the distinguishable participating groups and artists: L.A., Los Zigarros, Muchachito, Arizona Baby, La Pulquería and Quique González will be performing. Last year on the 25th of March more than a thousand people gathered on Arenal beach to attend Montgó Rock‘s launch party, which featured performances by Los Walkers and Sexy Zebras.
