From 23 to 25 May, the Festival del Mar (Sea festival) will take place for the third time at the port of Javea, Alicante. It is organised by the Asociación de Comerciantes y Empresarios de Aduanas del Mar (ACEAM) (Teulada-Moraira Association of Businessmen and Traders), in collaboration with the Yacht Club of Javea and the town council of this city on the Costa Blanca. The festival will see great number of presentations and commercial, as well as sporting, cultural and gastronomic activities taking place over the three days. As an example, the gastronomic journalist and writer Angeles Ruiz is the patroness of this event.

Among the activities that make up the program of the third festival, the introduction to water sport courses are particularly exciting, such as sea kayaking (23rd at 4pm), or the guided tour of the fish auction at the Pòsit de Xàbia (fish exchange) (23rd at the same time) or the fashion show by designer Miquel Suay (24th at 8.30pm). These events are complemented by talks and conferences, tastings and sports competitions such as the open-water swimming competition (25th at 9.30am).

At this year’s Festival del Mar, a great number of exhibitors, whose commercial activity is focused on the marine sector, will be present.  But the gastronomy, one of the most attractive aspects about the Costa Blanca, will, as we previously mentioned, also play an important role with such events as ‘showcooking by Alberto Ferruz’ (chef of the restaurant Bon Amb, winner of a Michelin star) or the GastroMar initiative, where different  restaurants from Javea offer menus, prepared especially for this occasion.
