Last year’s Route Awards recognized the efforts of Turismo Valencia with a special mention for its work in destination marketing. This year, the work of the Valencian public institution in charge of the promotion of the city, once again won the prize for the best European tourism office.  

The annually awarded Route Awards, are considered to be the most prestigious awards of the sector, its nominees being selected by a commission, comprised by high ranking personnel from international airlines. This way, it is possible to publically and officially recognize which airport or destination has the best marketing strategies, judged either by successful results, supplied information or the creation of innovative techniques to maintain and develop existing routes and to establish new ones.

The airline commission also selects which organisation for tourism promotion has the best destination marketing campaign, supporting the airports, as well as distinct airlines.

This year, this award went to Turismo Valencia, represented by Miguel Ángel Pérez, at the Routes Europe Awards ceremony that took place in Marseille on 7 April. The highlight of the different international prize ceremonies will be the awarding of the global winners of the Route Awards in Chicago this September.

Other contestants for Turismo Valencia’s winning category “Destination Marketing Awards”, included the Tourism offices of Poland, Malta, Iceland and the city of Stockholm.
