The Valencian company Mariner, specialised in handcrafted luxury furniture and lighting, has been selected as winning company in the fourth round of a pioneer project, sponsored by the Valencia CF. Aim of the project is to give international visibility to distinct SMEs of the Valencian Community. Winning this competition means a great deal of support for Mariner, giving its international profile an important boost.
Mariner is a company with a long history and more than hundred years of experience. It is currently present in over 110 countries around the world, thanks to a good internationalisation policy. Founded in 1893 by Enrique Mariner Guerra, Mariner makes handmade luxury furniture and lighting, combining tradition, innovation and design for all of its pieces.
Historically speaking, Mariner has always been a brand linked to the Valencian football club. Since 1942, three generations of Mariner have not only been partners of the club, but also part of its senior management. The founder of the Valencian company, Enrique Mariner himself, accompanied the president of the Valencia CF, Luis Casanova, in homage to the renowned Valencian player Juan Ramón back in 1947. On the other hand, if there ever was to exist a legendary snapshot of the club, it must be the photograph of iconic goal-keeper Quique, who climbed up the crossbar after defeating FC Barcelona in the Copa del Rey finale of 1954. In the eighties, after throwing in the towel, Enrique Navarro (Quique), became sales director at Mariner. While, Dani Alcover, son of the administration manager of the Valencian company, followed into Quique’s footsteps by becoming goalie of the ‘Benjamin A’, a youth team of the Valencia CF. One last fact that attests to the close relation between Mariner and the Valencia CF is the commemoration photo for the 75th anniversary of the prestigious Valencian company, which was shot with the Mestalla stadium as backdrop.
