As on other occasions, the most recent Milan Furniture Fair (Salone Internazionale del Mobile Milano) was attended by numerous companies, studios and professionals who hail from Valencia, representing the sector of design, furniture and lighting. Below we will introduce just a few of the designs on display in Milan, by acclaimed Valencian-based companies from the home furnishings’ sector.
Andreu World
ON chair was one of the pieces presented by the Valencian company at the fair I Saloni. Designed by Jasper Morrison, this collection of chairs and armchairs are made of solid beech wood, with beech plywood used for the seat and backrest. This results in a robust, light and very attractive chair which could be used in both public and residential spaces.
Expormim
The Valencian-based designer Jaime Hayón has once again collaborated with the Valencian firm Expormim to produce the Frames collection. This new line features an armchair, a folding screen and a side table, which take the company back to the 70s, when as it was known as “the exporter of wicker furniture” for their designs in line with the Mediterranean-style terraces in fashion during the tourist boom.
Capdell
Carlos Tíscar, current president of the Designers Association of the Valencian Community (ADCV) is behind the She collection; a line of chairs which pays homage to women and their determined, practical and courageous character in the structural design, featuring simple yet contrasting geometric shapes.
Punt
New arrivals to the long-standing presence of Valencian companies at the Milan fair include the return of the timeless Literatura Classic by Vincent Martínez, which for this occasion has been renamed Literatura Open, an open, transparent structure suited to a variety of different spaces such as the living room or library. The company Punt also presented their Stockholm collection by Mario Ruiz, an elegant set of side and coffee tables.
