The area surrounding the Calle Poeta Querol, known as the “Golden Mile” in the city of Valencia, will have a new resident thanks to the arrival of the American fashion and accessory brand, Michael Kors. Valencia will consequently become the fourth Spanish city (after Madrid, Barcelona and Marbella) to welcome a boutique of the brand founded in 1981.

Michael Kors (born Karl Anderson in 1959, the son of former model Joan Kors), started his fashion career as a teenager selling designs from his parents’ apartment in Long Island, New York. After briefly studying in the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, he started work in a boutique at Bergdorf Goodman, where he was given a small space to continue selling his designs. In 1981, Kors launched his first womenswear collection in large department stores such as Bloomingdale’s and Saks, followed by his menswear line in 2002. His designs, considered as luxury sportswear, have been worn by the likes of Michelle Obama, Gwyneth Paltrow, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Heidi Klum. Kors’ creations have repeatedly appeared on screen, featuring in the remake of the film The Thomas Crown Affair and television series such as Gossip Girl.
